Tanzania expresses interest in TAAT’s technology deployment model
A high-powered delegation from the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has commended TAAT’s commitment to deploying high-performance agricultural technologies across Africa.
Hon. Prof Adolf Mkenda, the Tanzania Minister for Education, Science & Technology disclosed this during a visit to the TAAT booth at the ongoing African Conference on Agricultural Technologies (ACAT) in Nairobi, Kenya. Following fruitful engagements with Dr Chrys Akem, the TAAT Programme Coordinator and Dr Solomon Gizaw, the Head of TAAT Clearinghouse, on TAAT’s successful model of scaling up agricultural innovations, Hon Mkenda expressed his country’s interest in accessing the heat-tolerant and high-yielding wheat varieties.
“TAAT, Dr Gizaw responded, is willing and ready to replicate in Tanzania, the success stories it recorded in Sudan and Ethiopia through the scale up of these heat-tolerant and high-yielding wheat varieties.”
Organised by Africa Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF), ACAT brings together a dynamic community of agricultural researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore innovative solutions that can enhance agricultural productivity in Africa. With the theme “Agricultural Resilience through Innovation,” the conference which ends on the 3rd of November 2023, focuses on the centrality of science, technology, and innovation (STI) in fostering agricultural transformation on the continent.
